Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) has filed a review application with the interior secretary against the ban recently placed on the outfit. Rejecting the allegations levelled against it, the TLP accused the government of having acted with 'deceit' during negotiations.

The development comes days after the European Parliament adopted a resolution seeking a review of Pakistan's GSP Plus status over incidents of faith-based violence in the country. The EU resolution had also expressed concern on the resolution tabled in Pakistan's National Assembly seeking debate on expulsion of French ambassador from the country.
In the review appeal, lawyers representing the TLP said, “The government while dealing with the party [TLP] throughout acted with deceit, deception and chicanery."

The government had banned the TLP through a notification in the wake of violent protests held by the group across the country against the outfit's chief Saad Rizvi's arrest. Six policemen were killed while more than 800 sustained injuries during the clashes with TLP workers and supporters. An agreement signed between government and the TLP had finally brought an end to the week-long protests.
