The petition was heard by LHC judge Justice Shaheen Mubeen on Monday. The petitioner has argued that the application was detrimental for the young generation and hence should be banned in the country.
He argued that TikTok wasted time and money whilst promoting vulgarity and obscenity, adding that it was also the cause of online harassment and blackmailing.
The petitioner further made a request to the court that the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority be directed to ban TikTok.
A request for the court to order the government to enact the Privacy Protection Act to save youth from negative effects of social media was also put before the judge.
The petitioner also told the court that if a permanent ban was not possible, a ban on the app till the completion of the case should be placed.
Justice Mubeen has sought replies from the federal government and PTI on the matter and has adjourned the case.
