PML-N, PPP Allege Pre-Poll Rigging In GB Elections As Minister Gandapur Violates Code Of Conduct

Pakistan Peoples' Party (PPP) senator and senior leader Sherry Rehman on Saturday said that the party has filed a petition in the chief court of Gilgit Baltistan against what she described as pre-poll rigging in GB elections. In a tweet, Rehman accused the government of engaging in pre-poll rigging. She criticised Prime Minister for participating in the campaign and addressing the people of GB before the elections

She also criticised Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit Baltistan Ali Amin Gandapur for announcing the development package during a public gathering, adding that it violates the Election Act.

Separately, Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) also accused the federal government of interfering in the GB elections, terming the polls "the replay of 2018 elections".

Iqbal, while talking to media, also said that there was no one to ask the government about its rigging in GB elections because such laws are only made for the PML-N.

The PM addressed a rally in GB on Sunday on the occasion of Independence day of GB. He announced the provincial status of GB while the Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit Baltistan also announced a development package for the GB.

The elections in GB will be held on November 15.
