Prime Minister Imran Khan on Sunday said that if the opposition was targeting the chief of army staff and Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) chief, it meant that these military leaders are credible and his selection was good. He expressed these views while addressing an 'Azadi Parade' in Gilgit Baltistan on the occassion of the region's Independence Day.

Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan also congratulated the people of GB over this decision. “It was amazing for me to hear that the GB people had liberated themselves from the Dogra rule and decided to annex the region to Pakistan unconditionally,” he said.

The decision to give a provincial status to Gilgit Baltistan comes after long deliberations and it is being seen as a critical development in the context of Pakistan's policy over Kashmir.

Referring to the recent comments by former National Assembly speaker Ayaz Sadiq, PM Khan said that after his decision to return the pilot Abhinandan to India, he received congratulatory messages from all over the world.
