ISLAMABAD: Opposition's Rahbar Committee on Saturday met in Islamabad where the options available to the opposition to devise a future strategy to oust the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government were discussed, reported Naya Daur Media.

Holding a joint press conference after the meeting, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam - Fazl (JUI-F) leader Akram Khan Durrani, flanked by Pakistan People's Party (PPP) leader Nayyar Bukhari and Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz (PML-N) leader Ahsan Iqbal among others, said that three options discussed in the meeting included:

  1. Shutter down strike

  2. Blocking of main highways across the country

  3. Joint resignations from the national and provincial assemblies

However, Naya Daur Media has learned through sources that PML-N and PPP have requested some time for consultations with their respective leaderships in this regard. Sources told that the two major parties in the national assembly were reluctant to provide a commitment without consultations at the party level.

Laying out its demands during the press conference, the Rahbar Committee once again called for the resignation of the prime minister and demanded fresh elections without army's supervision.

He added that action will be taken if the agreement is violated.
