Three more doctors in Quetta were tested positive for coronavirus on Wednesday. The total number of doctors in the city who have been diagnosed with the virus has risen to 9, according to Young Doctors Association Balochistan.

On Wednesday, Balochistan's young doctors went on on strike against the government’s failure to provide them protective medical gear. YDA Balochistan President Dr Yasir Achakzai urged the Chief Justice of Balochistan to intervene in the matter and protect the doctors from getting infected with coronavirus.

Doctors across the country have been complaining about lack of adequate protective equipment. A doctor in KP had earlier protested the non-availability of protective gear by wearing a plastic bag as face mask.

Meanwhile, at least 17 patients who were earlier diagnosed with coronavairus in Quetta have reportedly recovered. Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan stated that the 17 patients under treatment at Sheikh Zayed Hospital in the provincial capital have recovered from the deadly virus and their tests have come out negative.
A spokesman of the Balochistan government had earlier denied rumours that the province was responsible for the spread of coronavirus in Pakistan. He also urged the public not to believe such ill-informed comments and hearsay. He further said that the Balochistan government was making all-out efforts to enforce preventive measures and contain the spread of the outbreak.
The spokesman, however, stopped short of commenting on the rising cases of doctors being affected with the virus.
