DAWN reported that the victim’s father told police that his son was feeling unwell when he returned from mosque where he went to learn the Quran on Friday. When his mother asked him, the boy started weeping and told her that the prayer leader had sexually assaulted him.
The boy was taken to a hospital where medical examination confirmed molestation.
ASI Mohammad Sajjad said a case had been registered against the prayer leader and he had been arrested. During interrogation, the suspect had confessed to assaulting the boy.
Earlier in March, three men were arrested for allegedly raping their sister in Golra Sharif. And one of the suspects was a religious scholar who delivered sermons on social media.
A similar incident was reported in Rawalpindi last month, where a 15 year-old boy – a Pakistani-American dual national – was sexually assaulted.
