Asif Zardari’s Interview Stopped Within Minutes Of Airing

An interview of former president Asif Ali Zardari on Geo News show Capital Talk was stopped within minutes of airing on Monday night. The anchor/host Hamid Mir took to Twitter to express his outrage over the incident.

Mir apologized to his viewers, Capital Talk is one of the more popular political talk shows on television and the journalist was target of an assassination attempt in 2014. He also tweeted that people from all over the world have been calling him, asking why the interview was stopped.

Mir also questioned the motives behind stopping the interview, saying that his interview of Tehreek Taliban Pakistan (TTP) former spokesperson member Ehsanullah Ehsan had been allowed to air in full. Is the former president a bigger criminal that the TTP member he added.

This incident is a example of the recent crackdown on electronic media in the country. Earlier this month Najam Sethi’s show was also taken off air.
