In conversation with voicepk.net, the former law minister said that with the evolving worldwide consensus on the death penalty, Pakistan would sooner or later have to abolish the death penalty. Moreover, he further called for the need to reform criminals, adding that torture results in condemnation not just from local human rights bodies, but also from international organisations.
In 2013, Rana Sanaullah, while speaking at the Quaid-e-Azam Law College, had upheld the death penalty and had said that because the death penalty was religiously ordained, it did not matter what its status was worldwide.
