The voting was done via an online poll on the Cambridge University Press website, in which 6 finalists, including Saya, competed for the prestigious award.
Out of 4,000 nominations, 50 shortlisted entries and 6 finalists, Saya was named the winner.
Among the other five teachers were Sri Lanka's Anthony Chelliah, Australia's Candice Green, Malaysia's Sharon Kong Foong, Philippines' Jimrey Dapin and India's Abhinandan Bhattacharya.
But it was the Pakistani educationist who was deemed victorious after voting ended in his favour.
According to ASTC (Saya-owned institute for O and A Level studies)
website, his students call him a 'KING'. And it was proved as they
voted their teacher to the throne.
It was further said that Saya has
"earned massive respect among his students who acknowledge his highly selfless, compassionate and determined approach towards his teaching which he calls his ‘passion not work’."
To quote the man himself: "Teaching is not a job, it’s a responsibility and this responsibility does not end when the class ends."

And his students can not be more proud

They even campaigned pretty well

It is surely a proud moment for Pakistan.
And specially when education standards at a mass scale are not up to the mark, Saya's achievement comes as a ray of hope.
