Lahore High Court (LHC) Chief Justice Qasim Khan on Tuesday suspended the detention order against activist Ammar Ali Jan, saying that it was unconstitutional and based on mala fide intent.

The Chief Justice also issued a 2-week restraining order until the next hearing which is to be held on December 17.

Ammar was represented by lawyers Hina Jilani and Asad Jamal.
The order was issued during the hearing of Ammar Ali Jan’s appeal against the detention order against him issued by DC Lahore. The order had termed Ammar a threat to public safety. The police had also attempted to arrest him last week following issuance of the orders when he was on his way back from the Students Solidarity March in Lahore. However, his friends had managed to thwart the attempt to arrest him.
