“Young Pakistani researchers are as precious as diamonds we just need to polish them a little bit to get maximum benefits as they are equally talented and skillful as other developed country’s researchers,” Qadeer was quoted as saying by Dawn.
Qadeer said this while addressing a certificate distribution ceremony at University of Karachi. He also advised young students who were planning to go abroad for studies to solely focus on research and learning and not indulge in political or religious debates.

"They must spend more time in learning from teachers and laboratory experiences and return home with necessary knowledge to serve the nation," the nuclear scientist said.
He said Pakistan needs young, talented and hardworking students to come forward to make the country a strong and developed nation.
He gave his example that he did his Ph.D 48 years ago, but was still doing research and writing papers. He said the study period is the time when students groom and if one makes most of it, they can reach the stars.
He also criticized government officers to failing to fulfill their duties as expected. “Being a government servant does not mean that you go to office for relaxation, it is about a service which should be performed by heart and dedication.”
