Netherlands's Queen Maxima To Visit Pakistan

The queen of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Her Majesty Queen Máxima, will be visiting Pakistan from November 25 to 27 as a special advocate of the United Nations Secretary-General for Inclusive Financing for Development (UNSGSA).

A statement issued by the Pakistan Embassy in The Hague, Netherlands, Queen Maxima would be discussing the progress of access to financial services to improve the economic position of Pakistan’s inhabitants.

The Dutch royal would be visiting Pakistan at the invitation of the government and her visit would be a follow-up to the United Nations visit in February 2016.

During her stay in Pakistan, the queen of the Kingdom of the Netherlands would hold talks with international development partners, governor of the State Bank of Pakistan Reza Baqir, Adviser to the prime minister on economic affairs Hafeez Shaikh, and chairman of the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) Usman Mubin.

Queen Maxima is expected to call on President Dr Arif Alvi and Prime Minister Imran Khan.

She would also possibly be attending the launch of ‘Micropayments Gateway’, an initiative to reduce the cost of small payments to stimulate digital payments, particularly for people in poverty situations.

Queen Maxima would also visit Lahore to attend a number of projects focusing on digital financial services.
